Pampered chef garlic slicer 11139/14/2023 we use it for EVERYthing - topping pizza, finishing off sauces, adding to coatings for meats and fishes, salads, straight up munching on crackers or bread. this marvel slices garlic so thin you can read through it. but somehow, my better half suprised me with this for Christmas and heavens. then i didn't see it on Amazon anymore so i figured the decision was made for me. my knife skills are pretty good, i just couldn't bring myself to justify the purchase. i had my eye on it for a while, but held myself back because of the price. This thing is so great i couldn't say enough good things to endorse it if i had ten pages. BE SURE YOU CHECK YOURS AND DITCH ANY THAT ARE NOT THE NEW MODEL FOR SAFETY'S SAKE. SELLER REFUSED TO PAY FOR RETURN SHIPPING SO AMAZON GAVE ME A FULL CREDIT WITHOUT HAVING TO RETURN IT. I RECENTLY ORDERED ONE OF THESE BY A SELLER ON AMAZON BECAUSE I USE THE ONE I OWN SO MUCH IT IS OFTEN IN THE WASH AND I WAS SENT THE RECALLED VERSION! IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A RECALLED PRODUCT. THE NEW MODEL HAS THE BLADES ENCASED IN UNDER THE BOTTOM AND ARE NOT SIMPLY HELD ON BY TINY PLASTIC DOTS. THESE CAN FALL OFF AND CUT THE USER OR LAND IN YOUR FOOD. THE OLD AND RECALLED MODEL HAS BLADES HELD ON THE BOTTOM BY 2 PLASTIC "NIBS". LET ME TELL YOU HOW TO TELL TEH DIFFERENCE. NOTE: IN 2013 PAMPERED CHEF RECALLED ONE MODEL OF THIS AND INTRODUCED ANOTHER ONE. Throw in a chunk of sweetened chocolate and shave away. I have also used this for shaved chocolate atop desserts-for example, if you do a chocolate pie and want decorative chocolate shavings atop the whipped cream or meringue. You'll have such fun with it you will think of new things you want to add garlic to that you might not have in the past-and since it is such a versatile herb, why not? It is also fast and easy with no mess to simply throw in a clove and get lovely paper thin slices for any recipe. I love that it adds more flavor and it also looks lovely-for example, the shaved slices of garlic on a pizza is quite nice. I use this whenever a recipe calls for chopped garlic simply because I love the flavor more of the thinly shaved garlic.you kind of get the flavor of garlic, without the burst of bitterness you get when biting into a chopped piece.
